The mission of the Staff Council is to foster a positive and respectful working environment by advocating for the interests and concerns of each Staff member. While advancing and supporting the mission and goals of UNCSA, the Staff Council shall
- serve as a liaison between the Staff, the administration, and the Chancellor,
- promote a sense of community among all school employees;
- provide regular communication to staff on issues affecting staff members;
- review policies and procedures and make recommendations to the Chancellor and/or administration;
- encourage professional and personal development of the Staff;
- represent issues and concerns of the Staff through our delegates to the state-wide UNC Staff Assembly.

All SPA and EPA-NT staff members are welcome to attend the monthly meetings.
The Staff Council voted to adopt changes to the bylaws as proposed by the Governance Committee on December 18, 2008.
UNCSA Staff Council By-Laws
The new bylaws reflect detailed descriptions of those who are represented by Staff Council.
Many changes were in wording only, to make easier the reading and understanding of the bylaws.
Other changes; Section III. A, Composition (2), was updated to show districts and when they need to have elections. You’ll also note that District 11 has been combined with District 5. (4), was updated explaining that alternates can vote in the absence of their elected representative with given notice. Section III. C, Officers, now shows a clearer description of duties.
This is a living document and can be adjusted to help us to function and accomplish our mission together.
