1,380-seat Stevens Center |

Performance Place |
The School mounts its productions in seven theatres. The largest is the Stevens Center, a renovated, 1,380-seat neoclassical full-fly house with state-of-the-art equipment in downtown Winston-Salem. Operas, plays and dance concerts, as well as orchestra concerts and recitals, are regularly presented in the Stevens Center.
On campus, the specially designed Performance Place houses the 390-seat proscenium thrust, the 200-seat flexible arena theatre, and the flexible space Cobb and Patrons rehearsal/workshop theaters. Performance Place also includes dressing rooms, a performers' lounge, a classroom and a black box rehearsal space, which doubles can also double as a theatre. Performances at Performance Place are usually limited to plays. The intimate 188-seat Agnes de Mille Theatre offers a proscenium stage for dance concerts and workshops.

The technical production facilities are among the most extensive and sophisticated in the country. More than 70,000 square feet of space is used for separate carpentry, paint, properties and furniture, welding and metal, electrical, sound, wig and makeup, automation and costume shops and studios. In addition to general classroom space, there are production offices; studios for drafting, drawing, sculpture and ceramics, and graduate students; and storage facilities for scenery, costumes, properties and electrics.
