Wigs and Makeup Faculty (2006)
Wig Construction, Makeup, Rendering for the Makeup Artist

Christal Schanes earned a B.S. in costume design and a B.S. in visual arts from Illinois State University and an M.F.A. in wigs and makeup from the North Carolina School of the Arts. She worked as special effects key on the L.A.-based feature MARCUS as well as hair additional on New York City-based features including SPIDERMAN III and NOISE. Ms. Schanes also served as wig and makeup assistant on the original national tour of “Dr. Dolittle” with Troika Entertainment. Other credits include first assistant to the wig supervisor for the 2005-06 season of “Saturday Night Live!” hairstylist for guests appearing on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” and assistant to Bob Kelly Wig Creations on Broadway productions including “Tarzan,” “Spamalot,” and “Zumanity.” Ms. Schanes has also worked on many productions with companies such as American Ballet Theatre, Barter Theatre, and Atlanta Opera Company.
