Dale Girard

Dale Anthony Girard, Combat
An award-winning Fight Director, Choreographer and author of the stage combat manual Actors On Guard. His work has been featured in professional theatres and opera houses throughout North America and in several feature films. Recent stage credits include "Romeo et Juliette" at the Metropolitan Opera (NYC), "Macbeth," "Margaret Garner" and "Cold Sassy Tree" for Opera Carolina, "Tosca" and "Porgy & Bess" at the Piedmont Opera (NC), "Cyrano de Bergerac" and "The Three Musketeers" at the Pioneer Theatre (UT), "Noises Off " and "A Streetcar Named Desire" at the Studio Arena Theatre (Buffalo, NY) and "Faust," "Don Giovanni" and "Romeo et Juliette" at the Chautauqua Opera (NY). Recent motion picture stunt coordinating credits include "Junebug," "Little Chicago," and "Driftwood." As a master teacher, Mr. Girard has instructed classes and seminars in stage combat, acting, and dramatic movement at colleges and universities throughout the United States. He is a senior member of the North Carolina Stuntmen's Association and the Society of American Fight Directors, where he is one of only twelve recognized Fight Masters in the United States. His breadth of work and contribution to the art of staged violence has also earned him recognition in the Canadian guild, Fight Directors Canada, The Russian Guild of Stage Movement Directors and Teachers as well as the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat. He received his training in theatre arts at the University of Northern Colorado and previously served on the faculty of the Yale School of Drama, the National Theatre Conservatory in Denver, Colorado and the Hartt School.
