Requesting a Retirement Estimate

New Process to Produce More Accurate Retirement Estimates

The Retirement Systems Division has revised procedures for providing retirement benefit estimates often sought by employees who are within two years of retirement.  Beginning March 1, 2007, employers and members requesting an estimate must complete the Requesting an Estimate of Service Retirement Benefits, Form 309. The new procedure will improve the accuracy of retirement estimates by collecting more information from the member prior to the estimate calculation.  The new procedure will also take longer to complete because Division staff will thoroughly review the member’s account before preparing the estimate. Employees should expect to receive an estimate within 4 to 6 weeks of their request. You may obtain Form 309 from the HR web page under “Forms.”

Detailed estimates will be provided for members within two years of retirement with a limit of three estimates per year. Other members should use the benefit estimate calculator found at www.myncretirement.com
