From your own computer using another client
From a computer that isn't your own
To forward your messages to an email account you already have and use
From your own computer using Outlook Express:
- Download Outlook Express (or another email client of your choice). Outlook Express is packaged for free with Internet Explorer. To download Outlook Express, visit http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/download.
- Configure Outlook Express
- From the Outlook Express opening page, choose Set up a Mail Account
- Enter your name as you’d like it to appear on messages, and click Next
- Enter your email address: username@pop.ncarts.edu and click Next
- Complete the following entries:
My Incoming Mail Server is POP3
Incoming Mail Server: pop.ncarts.edu
Outgoing (SMTP) Server: pop.ncarts.edu
Click Next
- Account Name: username
Password: your password
Click Next
- Click Finish
- When you open Outlook Express your email will be in your Inbox.
From your own computer using another email client such as Eudora, Netscape Messenger, etc:
You may choose to use another email client. If so, use the following information:
- pop.ncarts.edu is your "Inbound Mail", "Inbox Server," or "Incoming Email Server"
- pop.ncarts.edu is your "Outbound Mail,” SMTP gateway,” or “Outgoing Mail Server”
- your assigned email name and password
From a computer that isn't your own:
- Open a web browser and go to http://pop.ncarts.edu
- Enter your username and password
In order to forward mail to another account that you already use:
- Logon to http://pop.ncarts.edu
- Enter your username and password
- Click on Options from the top toolbar
- Choose Holiday Settings
- In the dialog box that appears, complete the Forward To section with the email address that you already use Click Save in the upper right hand corner
Note: The mail messages will now appear both in your NCSA pop account and in the mailbox to which you forwarded. In order to not exceed your NCSA mailbox limit, you may need to visit the NCSA pop account periodically to delete the messages from there.
