Saxophone students will focus on the fundamentals of tone production and technique and will cover a variety of styles including etudes, standard concert literature and jazz.

All undergraduate saxophonists will participate in a one-year course covering aspects of saxophone history, literature and pedagogical approaches. Students wishing to specialize in the performance of jazz music may choose to audition for the jazz ensemble, and/or enroll in jazz improvisation and jazz arranging.

The repertoire listed below is an indication of the range and difficulty of works typically studied by a saxophone student in the undergraduate program. It does not necessarily indicate any required repertoire.
