"Symmetries" by Mark Dendy

The School of Dance has trained young, talented dancers for careers in professional companies throughout the world since 1965. It offers a program of instruction at the highest professional level. The varied backgrounds of the resident faculty, as well as the extensive exposure to guest artists and choreographers, allow the student to experience a variety of dance styles from classical to post-modern. An exceptionally high level of performance opportunities further develop the student's versatility, a trademark of the school's alumni. Each year students perform in a broad repertory of classical and contemporary dance - more than 40 workshops and fully mounted productions, including "The Nutcracker." The curriculum, while based on the traditional training of ballet and contemporary techniques, remains flexible to keep current with the continuous evolution of dance. It reflects the belief that the dancer must be proficient in a variety of dance forms to compete in today's professional dance world. Students concentrate in ballet or contemporary dance; however, the curriculum includes training in both disciplines. The School of Dance awards the high school diploma, the Bachelor of Fine Arts and the College Arts Diploma.
