The School of Drama at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts trains talented young men and women to be exciting, versatile and accomplished professionals. The school emphasizes classical values in its training process to meet a well-recognized demand for actors to be technically skilled and, at the same time, creatively inspired. Julia Klein (class of 1993) was featured in the 2008-09 season opener of “Law & Order: SVU.”
Travis Smith (class of 2000) was nominated for a Suzi Bass Award for Leading Actor in a Play for his performance as Lenny in
“Of Mice and Men” at the Shakespeare Tavern in Atlanta. Nominees for the 2007-08 Suzi Bass Awards, which honor the best in Atlanta's professional theatre scene,
were announced Sept. 8
Ciera Payton (class of 2008) is making her New York debut Sept. 25-Oct. 5 in "And My Name Aint Peaches" at the Access Theatre, 380 Broadway, and her soap debut Oct. 1 on ABC's "All My Children." She can also be seen in the movie LORDS OF THE STREETS, starring DMX and Kris Kristofferson.
Bill English (class of 2002) co-stars in the new upcoming FOX series Outnumbered.
Dane DeHaan (college class of 2008 and high school class of 2004) will guest star along with James Brolin and Chris Elliot on NBC's Law & Order: SVU at 10 p.m. Oct. 14. Since graduation in May, DeHaan has workshopped a new musical, Myth, at the prestigious O'Neill Music Theater Conference; also in the cast was fellow 2008 Drama alumnus Wesley Taylor. DeHaan will make his off-Broadway debut at Soho Rep in Sixty Miles to Silver Lake beginning Nov. 25
