WINSTON-SALEM – The North Carolina School of the Arts will present its 2nd Annual Chocolate Festival to benefit The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, North Carolina Triad Affiliate, on Wednesday, Oct. 24. The festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, in Eisenberg Social Hall, lower level of the Hanes Student Commons on the NCSA campus, 1533 South Main St., Winston-Salem. Tickets are $10 for the general public, as well as faculty and staff of area colleges and universities, and $7 for students of area colleges and universities. All proceeds will be donated to the Triad chapter of The Susan G. Komen Foundation. Each entry ticket will allow your choice of six chocolate items, the chance to bid on several silent auction items and participation in a raffle. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased during regular office hours in the College Life Office (Hanes Student Commons, Second Floor), the Housing Office (Hanes Student Commons, Third Floor), and at the High School Connector Desk. The Chocolate Festival is a special event that brings together the Winston Salem community and NCSA in the fight against breast cancer. Last year, the festival raised more than $3,300 for breast cancer awareness. All chocolate items at the festival have been donated by local vendors. NCSA students have been key volunteers for the project. They are helping solicit donations, sell tickets, plan, decorate, set up and break down the event. The School’s health educators will also feature a "Wellness Fair" on campus to accompany the event. For more information, contact Sarah Buchanan, a high school residence hall counselor, at buchanans@ncarts.edu, or Julie Larsen, a college area coordinator, at larsenj@ncarts.edu. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
