NASHVILLE, TENN. – North Carolina School of the Arts Chancellor John Mauceri will conduct “Against All Odds,” a concert of works by composers exiled during the Nazi regime, with the Nashville Symphony in Tennessee, April 17-19. Famed vocalist Ute Lemper and vocal ensemble Hudson Shad join the Nashville Symphony for a riveting program of Hindemith’s Prelude from When Lilacs Last in the Door-Yard Bloom’d, Weill’s The Seven Deadly Sins, and Korngold’s Symphony in F-sharp, Op. 40. These composers came to the United States to escape the chill winds of political turmoil in Europe, and their music reflects it. |
