NCSA ALUMNI GET ENGAGED
IN TIMES SQUARE ON NEW YEAR’S EVE
IN FRONT OF THE WORLD

NEW YORK, NY -- Congratulations to North Carolina School of the Arts alumni Michael Abbott Jr. (School of Drama, BFA in Acting, 2000) and Alisha Murray (School of Dance, High School Diploma, 1995) who got engaged on New Year’s Eve, in Times Square, live on network television.

Abbott proposed to Murray as 2008 arrived. “If you watched the ball drop and saw a couple get engaged, then you saw us!” Abbott wrote to his friends at NCSA. “And she said YES! It would have been embarrassing to get rejected in front of 100 million people!”

Coverage of the exciting moment was broadcast live on network television and later replayed on NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, CNN, WE, and the BBC.

Local audiences may remember Abbott from his performances in “Brother Wolf” and “Bus Stop,” as well as his NCSA productions. Murray has danced with Nashville Ballet and Milwaukee Ballet.
