WINSTON-SALEM – Usually NCSA students, faculty and staff are rehearsing, performing, teaching, typing, telephoning and e-mailing during the day. But this Friday they’ll be dusting, polishing, sweeping, pruning, weeding and raking. NCSA will hold its second annual Campus Clean-Up Day on Friday, Oct. 3. Rain date is Oct. 10. Chancellor Wade Hobgood has encouraged all staff, faculty and students to participate. Participants will be given the option of cleaning inside buildings or sprucing up outside during the morning or afternoon. Shifts are 8:30-11 a.m., and 12:30-3 p.m. T-shirts and door prizes will be awarded to participants who pre-registered. Participants may volunteer for one of three teams. They are: * Green Team will be weeding, pruning, raking, etc., outdoors. * Scene Team will be doing trash pickup and general outdoor campus cleanup. * Clean Team will be doing general housekeeping duties, cleaning offices, halls, windows and surrounding areas. Teams will assemble at 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at the Hanes Student Commons ground level outdoor patio. The School’s Community Outreach Committee proposed the idea of a campus-wide clean-up day to Chancellor Hobgood last year. That committee, part of the SPA (subject to the State Personnel Act) Staff Council, wanted to help the housekeeping and grounds staff during the staffing shortage. Dozens of faculty, staff and students participated in the clean-up day last year, on Oct. 4, 2002.
