Afternoon Classics  2 pm, June 24 – August 1,  2008. Film Theater.  FREE!

Escape the midday heat and enjoy six weeks of free afternoon concerts by the North Carolina School of the Arts Summer Performance Festival.  Programs vary daily and weekly. Join us every day to hear the full festival repertoire.  Wild Wednesdays are at 2 pm each Wednesday and Classics for Kids at 2 pm each Thursday.


A Musical Menagerie by the NCSA American Music Ensemble
June 24 & 27
2 pm, Tuesday & Friday, FREE!

Escape the midday heat and enjoy a light classical program showcasing the talent of the NCSA American Music Ensemble. Under the direction of Mark Norman, these gifted musicians perform solos, duets and small ensemble pieces for strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, and keyboard. A musical treat for the entire family!

Summer Saxophones by the NCSA Saxophone Quartet

Escape the midday heat and feel the beat as four superb saxophonists take the stage!  The NCSA Saxophone Quartet mixes French and American standards with classical and ragtime arrangements in a concert to delight young and old alike! Programs vary so plan to join us both days


Inside Voices! by vocalists from NCSA’s School of Music

Directed by Marilyn Taylor, vocalists from NCSA’s School of Music perform a potpourri of favorite songs and airs, including tunes by the immortal Irving Berlin. Come see why these superb singers receive standing ovations year after year!  Programs vary so plan to join us both days! 


Strumming! by an NCSA Guitar Duo

What musical instrument could possibly be more romantic than a guitar – two guitars! The NCSA Guitar Duo will delight audiences with a repertoire ranging from Baroque classics to modern tangos. Relax and escape the midday heat as this dynamic duo serenades you. Programs vary so plan to join us both days! 


Drumming! by the NCSA Percussion Ensemble
July 29 & August 1
2 pm, Tuesday & Friday, FREE!

Electrifying and energetic! Watch NCSA’s exciting percussion ensemble perform on a variety of instruments, steel drums to xylophones.  Drumsticks everywhere! Year after year, John Beck directs one of the summer festival’s most popular groups, the NCSA Percussion Ensemble.   Programs vary so plan to join us both days!
