Waterfront Outdoor Pavilion Show: Percussion at the Pavilion
June 26 – 29 at 8 pm;Waterfront Outdoor Pavilion, Roanoke Island Festival Park, Manteo, NC
Electrifying and energetic! Come watch NCSA’s exciting percussion ensemble perform with dozens of drumsticks on a variety of instruments ranging from steel drum to xylophone. The Concert Chorale of the Outer Banks will accompany the percussion ensemble for a special number each night. The NCSA Percussion Ensemble returns to the Outer Banks this summer by popular demand!

Guitars rock the boat tonight! New this season, NCSA and Roanoke Island Festival Park offer a special pre-show performance from the deck of the Elizabeth II. This enticing 30 minute presentation will allow you to join us for the 8pm feature presentation at the Waterfront Pavilion. 

Saturday Night at the Movies!

Show People, a delightful silent comedy, is both funny and touching, full of inside jokes as well as an insider's peek into Hollywood at the end of the silent era. A superb 1928 production from King Vidor starring Marion Davies and William Haines, featuring cameos from many silent legends including Charlie Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks, John Gilbert, cowboy William S. Hart and others.

For the first time on the Outer Banks, we are pleased to present the NCSA Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Ron Rudkin. The group's repertoire includes a wide variety of big band jazz ranging from the traditional greats like Count Basie and Duke Ellington to Latin pieces and music in more contemporary styles.  New York City jazz singer and NCSA alumna, Becca Stevens, joins the jazz ensemble for a special week of Jazz in July!  And don’t forget to join us for the Fourth!

Fourth of July Celebration

NCSA’s Woodwind Quintet, Jazz Ensemble and jazz singer, Becca Stevens, perform an evening of patriotic music to precede and accompany fireworks by the Town of Manteo.  Don’t miss this July 4th tradition on the Outer Banks!

In Whale Rider (2002), one young girl dares to confront the past, change the present, and determine the future. Shortened Shakespeare on the shores of Shallowbag Bay!  Laugh at this romantic romp among four young lovers: the romantic hero, Valentine; the fickle scoundrel, Proteus; the beautiful lady, Sylvia, promised to a duke; and the clever lady, Julia, who disguises herself as a male page to be employed by her lover, Proteus.

Open Dream Ensemble, NCSA’s touring drama troupe, presents Max and the Indexicon for one night only!  By placing objects into the mysterious INDEXICON, Max is swept away on wild journeys through space and time. The Story of the Weeping Camel (2004) tells the tale of a Mongolian nomadic family's newest camel colt who is rejected by its mother. When any hope for the little camel seems to have vanished, the nomads send their two young boys on a journey through the desert, to a backwater town in search of a musician who is their only hope for saving the colt's life. Some fairy tales are true... some legends are real. (Spoken in Mongolian with English subtitles.)
