Outdoor Pavilion Shows at 8 pm, Tuesday – Friday, June 24 – August 1, 2008.  FREE!

Free Family Fun!  Six weeks of sensational shows by North Carolina’s premiere arts conservatory.  Pack a picnic, blanket and chairs and bring your family and friends to see rising stars perform at Roanoke Island’s newly renovated Outdoor Pavilion. Even your pets are welcome!  Shows move to the Film Theater in case of rain.


Ragtime Revue by the NCSA American Music Ensemble

Bright and brassy or smooth and dark, Ragtime is the first truly American musical genre. The NCSA American Music Ensemble, directed by Mark Norman, presents four evening performances of blues, jazz, rags and brass. Hear the stars of tomorrow, today. Tap your feet to the Dixieland beat in the timeless classics by Scott Joplin, Dizzy Gillespie and other American greats.

Performing to record audiences last summer, the NCSA Jazz Ensemble and Friends directed by Ron Rudkin returns to the Outer Banks!  Back by popular demand, the award-winning NCSA jazz band and NYC jazz singer, Becca Stevens, perform spectacular American and Latin jazz. Come swing every night to the full festival repertoire of big band to contemporary jazz tunes!

Rats that can tap dance! An unscrupulous mayor! Can the Pied Piper save the town? NCSA’s School of Drama proudly presents the North Carolina debut of this delightful family musical.  The Pied Piper is hip; the rock music, cool; the rats, hilarious; the kids, precocious; and the lyrics, powerful!  This fun-filled musical was written and directed by Gerald Freedman, Broadway Producer and Dean of NCSA’s School of Drama. Will you follow the Pied Piper? To begin you must Take One Step! TIP: Pack a picnic and a camera and come early for pre-show entertainment by the cast! 


The Comedy of Errors by William Shakespeare, Directed by Matt Bulluck

What do silent movies, slapstick comedy, and Shakespeare have in common? Join director Matt Bulluck and his hand-picked cast from the School of Drama as they perform The Comedy of Errors, a hilarious Shakespeare tale of lost twins and mistaken identity - told with a twist!  Only four performances, so mark your calendars now to see these Broadway-bound performers before they leave Manteo!  TIP: Pack a picnic and a camera and come early for pre-show fun with the cast!

Republicans! Democrats! Lend me your ears! NCSA’s talented Broadway-bound students sing “songs for change”.  Songs about important issues in our nation’s past; songs about issues that are still important today!  Selections include You’ve Got to Be Taught from South Pacific, Bernstein’s Take Care of This House, Sondheim’s Bobby, Jackie and Jack, and Aquarius just to name a few. Join us for this musical reflection before heading off to the polls in November.

Innovative choreography, dynamic style, movement and expression; remarkable dance!
